We read this in the reading group at Hartlepool College of FE. The reaction to the cover was immediate and positve - "looks like good read." The group enjoyed the book and loved the characters - Everyone had a favourite, and felt that the "baddy" was a real bad guy!! All the characters are interesting and seem to have hidden depths that aren't all revealed in the book. It certainly whetted out appetite to read more of the Otori series......

I loved this book - the character were all very real but each had an air of mystery which left me wanting to know more about their lives how would their stories unfold and how did they get to be where they are? Then finally left wondering what will become of Takeo and Kaede after their bitter sweet parting at the end of the book? It seems to be a book with more questions for every answer found....
